Professional Review

OwlBoy is an exciting platform adventure game that takes gamers to an all-new world of islands spread out into the sky. In this story, you get to play Otus, who is the last of the Owl Characters. Explore the skies, overcome obstacles and defeat all enemies in this fun pixel resolution game.

Graphics — 5/5

Owlboy is a well detailed, pixel art game that is designed and put together with a ton of great visual effects and graphics. Unlike something we have ever seen, this game takes its characters, background environments, and animation to the next level. From intricate detailing of the characters in the game to the background art and animations, as well as the fluidity of every action and animation while playing, screams brilliance.

Gameplay — 5/5

Owlboy is a thrilling, action-packed and exciting game that includes running, shooting, jumping and flying. It is a versatile game that combines both its storyline with gameplay, making it very hard not to love. Playing the character of Otus, an owl who can simply fly over anything, it widens the gameplay making it more enjoyable.

Jump over obstacle and traps, fight with enemies, and race through a vertical world with numerous levels of creativity and fun. For those who are inclined towards platform adventure gaming, this game definitely ticks all marks, giving you outstanding platforming, relaxed exploration of an entirely vibrant, different world in the skies, and a large number of flight segments that also include battle scenes and taking down the enemy in the sky. Right from the start of the game, players would find themselves engulfed in the enigmatic storyline that includes a much more personal, subtle touch, one that you might now find in any other adventure game.

Controls — 5/5

Loaded with some of the most basic controls, this game does have a lot of action and moves that need to be remembered while playing the game. Running through each level, shooting and attacking is simple and can be done with the keyboard keys. However, with the numerous number of moves, it is quite challenging to find the perfect layout on your keyboard to incorporate all moves and actions easily, unless you are a pro.

Replay Value — 2/5

As far as the game goes, there are no additional modes like an arcade mode or a survival mode that would bring back gamers to play some more. However, the game does have some collectibles that need to be found but that does not add to the replay value of the game. Not many gamers take heed of collectibles as such. With that being said, the gameplay, background music, pixel art, vibrant characters, etc are exceptional and gamers would definitely enjoy playing the game once, but not many would come back to play it over and over again.

A heartfelt experience in gaming, Owlboy is a retro adventure game uniquely designed for those who love old school games. With a great mix of combat and exploration, the game includes fast-paced battle sequences, character changes, stealth challenges, and a ton of surprises along the way. Filled with stunning visual effects and sound effects, the game would definitely impress a first time player, overwhelming them with the charm of each level.

With a storyline that captivates its gamers, filled with heroism, failure and redemption, Owlboy is a superb pixel art game that is extremely addictive, packed with surprises, keeping you at the edge of your seat throughout the journey..
