Professional Review

An angry octopus adamant on destroying the world with its lethal attacks rendered using mutant tentacles that converts into unique weapons. Octageddon is an engaging game, developed by the same team that brought Plants vs Zombies for you.

Graphics — 4/5

The game incorporates 2D graphics, simulating cartoon characters and objects. This doesn’t mean that the visuals appear outdated. While you demolish all blockages, you will be intrigued by the crisp attacks and smooth transitions.

The octopus can grow limbs, attach different weapons, or utilize DNA traits for mutant developments. The game levels depict both land and sea. Half of the time, you fight the enemies under water and during another half, deals with the enemies on the land. The simulation is quite good.

Gameplay — 4.5/5

Octopus is a docile and intelligent cephalopod. The intelligence can be compared to those of elephants and dolphins. So when the octopus in Octageddon comes to know that humans are going crazy over octopus sushi, this creates a sense of fear and vengeance. This provokes octopus to destroy humanity, and the process begins with the destruction of the tourist attractions, Statue of Liberty to be specific. As the protagonist in the game, you will be spinning on the lands and swimming in the sea while eliminating enemies with your hard-hitting blows.

Initially, you will be equipped with basic tentacles and weapons to strike off the enemies and objects. Gradually, you will earn points and coins in the game. You can trade your earnings for procuring life-giving hearts, deadly weapons, and modified DNA traits. These include chicken DNA capable of shooting eggs, snake DNA capable of spitting venom, and so on. Each stage has been divided into sections, comprising of three levels each on land and in the sea.

Controls —4.5/5

The gaming controls are simply a no-brainer in this game. You just have to use two buttons or your two fingers to proceed in the game. One will be used to move the octopus forward and backward. When you are underwaters, tentacles will function in all directions whereas, on the land, tentacles touching the ground are suppressed. While shopping, you can toggle using keys on the keyboard or the joystick.

Replay Value — 4/5

When the player starts with Octageddon, there is an assumption that all game levels will be similar. True, the format remains the same but there are significant changes in the game. As you become proficient and are equipped with lethal weapons in the arsenal, the difficulty level changes in the game. The surroundings will remain the same but the situations will change. Thus, you have to play strategically to eliminate the enemies.

Octageddon is successful in rendering an engaging experience to the users. The uniqueness of the game is obvious as it is the creation of the same guys responsible for developing Plants vs Zombies. The variety of enemies and situations compel you to adopt different strategies to sustain in the game. The customization of weapons allows you to keep yourself equipped with the fatal weapons. You can play this game forever without getting bored at any point.

Octageddon gives you ample of options to indulge in a battle with the human race. Unfold the capabilities of mutant octopus to devastate enemies.
