Take down the forces of evil and bring freedom to your people as Broforce puts you in a world overtaken by the bad guys. Shoot, bomb, and stab your way through every level as a single player or in a team of 4 players online.
Graphics — 4.5/5
In terms of how the game looks, Broforce is something out of the vintage arcade shooter game genre. The levels have a certain classic look about them with dull colors and basic animations that, although look ordinary, fit perfectly into the gameplay. The characters in the game are also quite simple with very pixelated detailing. But with everything included, Broforce looks and performs quite wonderfully - even with its larger than life weapons and disproportionate helicopters.
Gameplay — 4/5
When you look at the cover of Broforce, you would imagine that it is a nothing but the action-packed game, and for the most part it is. Actually, the game is nothing more than shooting, jumping, bombing, and shooting some more. You start the game with whichever character you choose and you explore the level by shooting your way through the bad guys. You can unlock different characters while you play and play as them till you change again. Every character brings his own weapon and has special skills of their own. You can use ladders to reach higher ground or act like a true hero and use your knife to climb up the side of walls. There are checkpoints available through the levels that save your progress so you don't have to restart the level every time you fall into a ditch or a stone slab falls and crushes you. Once you complete a level, a rescue helicopter comes to pick you up and drop you into another enemy-filled area.
Controls — 5/5
Broforce is quite similar to other shooter games, in terms of controls. While the controls themselves are quite easy to understand and master, using them in the game can be tricky, unless you're used to it. The usual controls for movement include the D-Pad or the left analog stick while the buttons on the right are for attacking, jumping, climbing, or more. The control options can be customized on the controller to suit your playing style.
Replay Value — 5/5
Action games are quite common these days, but not very often will you find one like Broforce. It is funny, challenging, and entertaining at the same time. The game really delivers a unique gaming experience that cannot be matched by many. Whether it's the insane amount of ammo these characters carry around or the sheer size of the weapons, Broforce is a game that will definitely have you coming back for more.
If you're bored of the usual action shooter games available today, Broforce is something you might want to get your hands on. It is simplistic in terms of graphics and animations, but it has heaps of fun and excitement. The characters, gameplay, weapons, vehicles, and massive explosions will keep you entertained for hours without even realizing it. It is a non-stop, action-packed, and quirky game that offers more than you would expect. Give Broforce a chance and you won't be disappointed.
Broforce is a game that draws the line perfectly between hard-hitting action games of today and vintage arcade games of old.
